Our Coffee Farms

At Beneficio La Eva we are also coffee producers, we have two of our own farms (Hacienda La Eva and Hacienda La Luisa Norte) and other rented farms, as part of a project that has several strategic objectives:

  1. Ensure long-term supply of coffee cherry (quality and quantity).

  2. Develop, implement and promote sustainable production models based on regenerative agriculture, which serve as a school and model for our thousands of integrated coffee growers throughout the country, for the adoption of new and better cultural practices, technological packages and management systems.

  3. Be a cornerstone for the development of specialty coffees with multiple varieties and processes.

La Luisa Norte Estate

The coffee origin of this farm dates back to 1954 and it is on this farm where the Villa Sarchí coffee variety is born, a vigorous plant, with a large production and high cup quality, which today is recognized worldwide, but also represents a one of the most important genetic bases in the development of new varieties to face the challenges of climate change while maintaining a good rate quality and high productivity, in the family of the so-called Sarchimores.

Currently the Hacienda owns 223 hectares, of which almost 90 Ha are a private reserve of primary forest. In 2021, the Hacienda was acquired by Beneficio La Eva and with this began a process to migrate all its productive areas to coffee cultivation, with altitudes ranging from 1,450 to 1,750 meters above sea level.

Today La Luisa Farm is one of the areas with the highest production of drinking water for the canton of Sarchí, being a refuge and biological corridor for species of local flora and fauna, and producing one of the best coffees in Costa Rica in its soils of volcanic origin and cloudy climate, with a spectacular view of the entire Central and Western Valley of the country, and from which we can appreciate the Póas, Barba, Irazú and Turrialba Volcanoes on summer days.

We invite you to get to know this green paradise from the senses, with the enjoyment of our coffee.

La Eva Estate

Its name and history dates back to the origins of Hacienda La Eva in the 19th century. This farm covered a large part of the middle lands of the municipality of Sarchi and has been strongly linked to the history and essence of this beautiful town and its people since its origins.

Although it was originally dedicated to beef and dairy farming, coffee cultivation began around 1860. By 1911 it was shown in official publications as an example to follow in Costa Rica in the use of innovative solutions, such as the use of irrigation by gravity to increase your yields.

In fact, it is a source of pride for the inhabitants of Sarchi, where in 1904, in the workshops of Hacienda La Eva, the tradition of decorating bullock carts, a symbol of Costa Rican folklore and art, was born.

Not in vain, this town of noble, cheerful and artisan people has had the Finca La Eva and the Coffee Mill that bears the same name as icons of its community.

The Farm was acquired in 2004 by Beneficio La Eva and currently has an 18 Ha coffee plantation, as well as extensive gardens and beautiful groves; where the word "Sustainability" merges with reality and emits a delicious aroma of nature.

Today Finca La Eva focuses on the production of high quality coffees using innovative techniques and processes that provide our coffee growers with an example of a profitable, sustainable and replicable production model; and to our clients a diversified and consistent specialty coffee offer that allows them to maximize the value of our coffee and enjoy a true experience.

Leased Farms

On some occasions we find farm owners who do not want to or cannot work their land. But they don't want to sell their land either, because they have deep roots in it.

For these owners, the possibility arises that Beneficio La Eva leases the farms to them in the long term and invests in them to make them; highly productive coffee farms.

The owner of the land obtains an annual income, it is guaranteed that the farm will be well managed and at the end of the contract a renovated farm in very good agronomic condition will be delivered.

Benefit La Eva obtains the security of having a stable and growing supply of very good quality coffee over time.

The community obtains sources of permanent and temporary employment, as well as the generation of productive and commercial chains that contribute to economic reactivation.
